Tonight, I definitely pulled another "announce that I'm staying in to do work but end up playing Mario Kart and doing other timewasteful things." What I did do was look into some more details for backpacking in Assateague/Chincoteague during winter break! On the down (or perhaps exciting and challenging) side, I've ascertained that the December mean temperature is 40 degrees Farenheit, that hiking through sand is really tough stuff, and that we will need to pack in our own fresh water. In spite of those facts—or perhaps because of them—, I'm still really excited about sleeping outdoors again. If you're reading this and want to go, email me!

As an appetizer to that, some of us are going to try to get someplace dark tomorrow night/Sunday morning to watch the Leonids, which are supposed to peak here at 2am. A couple of us are committed, and we're probably going pick up any others who are sober enough to bike at that point. Should be an adventure; will report back if/when/how it happens.
