Letter weirdness

The compelling reason for the recent lack of updates is that a lot of keys on my keyboard don't work. I think it's because I installed a program that maps my Stanford AFS space directly to my hard drive, though it came with a passel of warnings that it was unsupported, that installation errors could crash the entire computer, that one false move could have Hitler's army pouring into my room in waves and bring the next armaggedon. Kidding.
Under the illusion of invincibility drawn by a recent hard drive partition, I did it anyway, and am hereby left with non-functioning escape, F1-F12, control, alt, right-click, comma/left bracket, insert, delete, back arrow, and home keys. This is a pain, especially the comma/left bracket, so essential to prose and HTML, respectively. For now, I'm clumsily touchpad-ing over to the on-screen keyboard any time I need to use one of those keys. It's a shame because I'd been planning to update some invisible parts of my site, like making the CSS Netscape(ick!)-compatible and the character sets Mac-friendly, as well as area tags to each entry so that I can link to 'em in the future. Oh, the best-laid plans of mice and men...
